A special Valentine's Day treat for you from Timid Pirate Publishing from their anthology Cobalt City Dark Carnival--"Apples and Arrows" by Minerva Zimmerman. Everyone loves a carnival—even a super-hero. But not all carnivals are created equal. And some are more dangerous than others. The gem of New England, Cobalt City, is where the heroes go. A gathering place for super-heroes since the Revolutionary War, this coastal city has seen everything from alien invasion to warring gods. And then there is Le Carnaval Pomme D’or. Legends claim this mysterious and dark carnival has ties to Lafayette, one of the city’s earliest heroes. Some say it is a force of nature, a danger that can only be endured but never defeated. Back for the first time in a generation, it brings mystics and monsters concealed beneath a veneer of greasepaint and faded canvas. Nothing less than the soul of the city is at stake. Do the super-heroes of Cobalt City have what it takes to challenge the forces of chaos? What chances do a lovelorn cat woman, industrialist family man, evolved panda, ancient sorcerer, dead jazz musician, and renegade cupid stand against an evil that has persevered for centuries? Before the big top rolls out of town, heroes will fall, villains will rise, and Cobalt City will be changed, perhaps forever! Featuring, in order of appearance: Minerva Zimmerman, Erik Scott de Bie, Matt Adams, Charlie Kenmore, Catherine & Andrew Warren, Ashley Bates, Dawn Vogel, Amber Keller, Rosemary Jones, and Jeremy Zimmerman. Recorded, mixed and produced by Nathan Crowder @ Sea Rooster Studios with an audio assist by S. Aarron Kemp Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License.
